Homeroom Residency is an initiative to provide reliable, paid performance work to Chicago artists. The Residency gives artists space to develop existing collaborations and explore new ideas. Footage from each Residency is archived in a documentary-style short film created in collaboration with Rhizomes Films.

Residency is directly supported by generous contributions from individual donors.

Featured Artists

2024: Spectralina

SPECTRALINA is the audio-visual performance project of Dan Bitney and Selina Trepp: collaborators, lovers, and magicians. Working in an improvised format, Spectralina creates an image-sound relationship that treats each medium equally, resulting in performances in which projection and sounds come together as visual music.

Every Tuesday in March, special guests will join Spectralina for multidisciplinary performances at Elastic Arts. All shows are $15 at the door + BYOB. Doors open at 8 PM, performance at 8:30 PM.

2023: Katinka Kleijn

Hailed by The New York Times as “a player of formidable expressive gifts,” Dutch-born cellist Katinka Kleijn enjoys a genre-defying, interdisciplinary career. Classically trained, she has since cultivated an exploratory, interactive creative practice at the fertile intersection of improvisation, composition, and performance art.
