Homeroom Residency is an initiative to provide reliable, paid performance work to Chicago artists. The Residency gives artists space to develop existing collaborations and explore new ideas. Footage from each Residency is archived in a documentary-style short film.

2026: Tim Daisy
Tim Daisy is a Chicago-based drummer, composer, and educator renowned for his contributions to both improvised and composed music. Since landing in Chicago in 1997, he has actively engaged with the city’s vibrant creative music scene, performing, recording, and touring with numerous esteemed musicians and ensembles.
During Homeroom Residency, Tim Daisy has prepared a new set of scores for two percussionists and piano, which he will present every Monday in April at Elastic Arts. Combining traditional and graphic notation, improvisation, and conductions, this new work—titled Chrome Yellow—aims to create music with enough improvisation and modular components to keep things interesting while maintaining a recognizable identity throughout each performance. For a second set, two guest artists will join the trio for a set of quintet improvisations called Reflections on Chrome.
2024: Spectralina
SPECTRALINA is the audio-visual performance project of Dan Bitney and Selina Trepp: collaborators, lovers, and magicians. Working in an improvised format, Spectralina creates an image-sound relationship that treats each medium equally, resulting in performances in which projection and sounds come together as visual music.

2023: Katinka Kleijn
Hailed by The New York Times as “a player of formidable expressive gifts,” Dutch-born cellist Katinka Kleijn enjoys a genre-defying, interdisciplinary career. Classically trained, she has since cultivated an exploratory, interactive creative practice at the fertile intersection of improvisation, composition, and performance art.

2022: Avreeayl RA
Chicago jazz legend, master drummer, and spontaneous composer Avreeayl RA with his group Dream Stuff: Ed Wilkerson (reeds), Peter Maunu (strings), Jim Baker (piano/synthesizer), Jason Roebke (bass), Avreeayl RA (drums/percussion).
