New Library on Chicago Ave and Ashland opens 9/7
West Town has not had a decent public library for a minute. There was a little one on 1300 block of W. Chicago, but that turned into a restuarant. (Branch something or another that took it’s name from being the former site of library.)
But Tuesday, September 7th, a brand new library will open at 1625 W. Chicago in the Goldblatt’s building. And this is no storefront library, but a large space with lots of books, computers and other resources. It should be a great resource for the community.

Songwriter Showcase with Shelly Steffens, Donny Mahlmeister and Brian Sulpizio
Shelly Steffens and Donny Mahlmeister of A Tundra and Brian J Sulpizio of Health&Beauty will be our featured songwriters at our Songwriter Showcase and Open Mic.
Steffens crafts modern rock songs rooted in Chicago’s post-rock tradition. She finds ways to make the awkward sound lyrical and the unpredictable seem obvious while keeping the listener on his toes with unconventional arrangements and melodies.
Sulpizio’s songs are often driven by a plucked guitar that dances over the beat. With influences that span modern jazz, Afrobeat and contemporary indie-rock, Sulizio distills his tastes into a focus and expressive style that incorporates improvisation.
