Winter Waltz Countdown: Dance Cards

As some of you may already know Homeroom is having their semesterly fundraiser in December and this year it’s a Winter Waltz! With most traditional waltzes, there are dance cards and we’ve decided to pay tribute to that old tradition and have some fun of our own with these cards!

So what is a dance card, you ask? A dance card is a small booklet that lists the songs that an orchestra would play throughout a dance or ball. Attached to the dance card was a pencil that gentlemen would use to write their names in the card – next to the specific piece of music to which they wished to dance with the maiden. We’ll will be doing something similar at our dance party this December. Click here to read about the history of dance cards and how it works. The evening will include music by Ami Saraiya, the Weepin’ Willows (a Patsy Cline cover band) and Ben Pirani of the Windy City Soul Club; food catered by Bin Wine Cafe and complimentary drinks!
