The three student and mentor pairs have finalized their mission statements and are deep into project-planning this January. Emerson Sigman and his mentor, Lori Felker, will create a theatrical experience that will combine cinema and performance art. The free event will be similar to a short film festival, with the goal of changing the audience's perspective of what a trip to the movies can be.
The student-mentor team of J.C. Joson and Matthew Baron are working on creating a series of live music events that bring together a wide range of cultures as experienced by Joson throughout his life. Having lived in the Philippines, California, Alaska and now Chicago, Joson is excited to be involved in live music events as a producer and coordinator.
Photography student Gonzalo Guzman and his mentor Martha Williams will create a photo and interview blog focused on documenting single city dwellers who form groups of like-minded people. Inspired by Ethan Watter's book, Urban Tribes, these groups of affluent, never-married people are intensely loyal and close-knit.
